When a site has to run a process rather than just describe it, you are building a web system: user accounts, permissions, data flows, an admin panel. I build these on custom code, because ready-made platforms usually last until the first unusual requirement.
What a system consists of
An admin panel with modules matched to the business, user accounts and roles, search across your data, notifications, exports, a change log. Plus the things people only remember after launch: backups, error monitoring and sensible messages when something goes wrong.
Multiple languages from the start
If the site has to work in several countries, language is not a plugin bolted on at the end. Each version gets its own URLs, correct hreflang tags and complete content — search engines treat it as a separate, local site.
What it looks like in practice
handlovo.com carries almost 280,000 listings in 16 languages. 4relo.pl has 185 service and city pages in each of 10 languages, over 2,200 URLs in its sitemap. Both run on a custom engine, with no plugin subscriptions.
